LMASP This Week: Parol II, PYC Apps, Fee Waivers & Calendars!

Hey y'all,

Ready for our last LMASP session of the school year? Save room for dessert because we'll be going out with a sweet bang.

Parol II

Joy Neas will be joining us again for another round of Parol making. Be sure to return your Parols to class if you took them home last week. Arrive to school early to place store Parols in P91 before your school day begins. You can store them under the desk behind the "Speech and Debate" sign.

PYC Apps & Fee Waivers

PYC Apps are due in exactly ONE MONTH from today. If you need help with applications or if you need to scan and email them, bring your applications to tomorrow's session and we can help you clarify questions and scan/send in applications if ready.

Also, reminder that FEE WAIVERS are due tomorrow Monday, December 12 if you want to save $25. We have a limited amount of spots, so first come first serve. Submissions are due via email only to lmafterschool.teachers@gmail.com. We will consider all applicants, but only 12 students can receive the fee waiver.

Workshops to look forward to at PYC 2012

  • Self-Identity (Workshops related to discovering one-self and evaluating what makes us who are, whether it's your race, sexuality, etc.)
  • Fiesta/Pamilyalimpics (We'll be playing authentic Pilipin@ games with the different pamilyas such as tumbang preso etc.)
  • Creative Expression (Workshops related to creative expression through singing, dancing, spoken word, art, etc)
  • Higher Education, Life Skills & Grass Movement (Workshops related to higher education, financial aid, resume building, public speaking, how to conduct grass roots movement campaigns/activism etc.)
  • And the oh so famous OPEN MIC!

Calendars on sale!

Nothing says "I care about you and I'm from Stockton" than giving the gift of a 2012 Filipino American History Calendar brought to you by the Little Manila Foundation and the Filipino American National Historical Society! For only $10 you and your family can purchase calendars for yourselves, relatives or family friends for the holidays.

With iPhone apps and digital calendars, physical paper calendars are going obsolete. Lets not let Filipino American history run that same trend! Support LMF and FAHNS by selling a calendar or two to your friends and family.

See you all tomorrow!
