LMASP This Week: Parol, Parol, Parol!
Sunday, December 4, 2011 at 3:37PM

Hoy mga students!
Excited about tomorrow's Parol workshop? We are too! Joining us will be local Parol maker Joy Neas who has come to LMASP to faciliate this workshop in the past. Be prepared to give her a warm welcome back for those of you who still remember her from last year.
If you haven't already registered for the workshop and are planning to attend tomorrow or next week's sessions, please take a few seconds to register by clicking on the link here. Do so before Parol supplies run out!
A huge thanks
Goes out to all the students who were able to come through for the LMASP visioning and brainstorm session last week. Ideas included workshops about filipino food, fashion, gender & sexuality, modern and folk dance, spoken word, theater, language, visual arts; trips to visit San Jose, Santa Cruz, Berkeley, San Francisco, SoCal the fields of Stockton and of course, the intersection of Laffayette and El Dorado (aka the Little Manila Historic Site); guest speakers from the Fil-Am hiphop community, Manong and Manang generation's family, the President of the United States and so much more! Your ideas are incredibly valuable to the future and continued growth of LMASP. Continue to dream big and share your ideas. Your co-teachers will do their best to make some of them happen with the resources we have access to.
Do you have more ideas?
Alma and Brian will always be availible to listen to you at each class session. You can also email them at lmafterschool.teachers@gmail.com. Also, if you were unable to attend the visioning session or if you had to leave early, take the time to fill out this google form here. Current and past students are encouraged to contribute their ideas and invest in the growth of LMASP programming.
See you all after school!

Reminder - LMASP Fee Waivers to PYC 2012 due Dec 12 (Next week!)
LMASP Fee Waivers to PYC 2012
In conjunction with the PYC Coordinators, LMASP will be offering fee waivers to cover registration costs for the conference. We encourage students to turn in fee waiver submissions ASAP due to the limited availability of funds. NOTE: You do not have to apply for this fee waiver to attend PYC 2012, this is a supplemental application for financial aid.
Requirements: Preference will be given to active LMASP students who have attended 2 or more LMASP sessions this current school year. Must also be a current High School student, grade 9-12.
Guidelines: After filling out the PYC Application, expand and develop your response to Question 2 in the application -- Why do you want to attend the Pilipino Youth Conference 2012? What do you hope to gain from this experience?
We are accepting written and video responses. Written responses must be between 250-500 words and video responses must be a minimum of 1 minute, maximum of 4 minutes. We encourage you to be creative with this so feel free to tap into your special and unique talents as individuals, i.e. write an essay, a speech, a song, perform a spoken word, act something out, dance, film a video blog, narrate a slide show etc. Keep in mind that we are looking for thoughtful responses that clearly respond to the prompt! Good luck and have fun.
Deadline: Submission deadline is December 12. Send a copy of your PYC 2012 application and scholarship submission (i.e. word documents or YouTube links) electronically to lmafterschool.teachers@gmail.com. Fee waiver recepients will be notified by January 9.
Visit the PYC 2012 website for PYC application.
