Stories Untold: What textbooks didn't tell you about Spain, the U.S. and the Philippines

This Week
Have you ever been in a situation where your "friends" try to control your decisions when you just want to do your own thing? Have you ever felt like the people you trust purposefully keep secrets from you? In today's class we will be learning more about an important part of Philippine and Filipino-American history that your U.S. History textbooks inclue one paragraph about: the Spanish-American & Philippine-American War.
Thank You
Congratulations to the students that volunteered for the Little Manila Crab Feed. It would not have been a success without your participation and presence. We all hope you had a great time! Also, a big thank you to students who were able to make it out to the San Joaquin International Film Festival especially the screening of Amigo (2010) at the Stockton Empire Theater and Carol Channing: Larger than Life (2011) at the Janet Leigh Theater at the Universtiy of the Pacific. Your presence was much appreciated by festival organizers and we all look forward to seeing more youth present at this annual event next year.
Commuity Service
Remember to bring hours sheets if you need me or Alma to sign off on your commnunity service hours. For the SJIFF, you need to include your reflection papers with your time sheet to get your hours. One reflection per film. Each reflection should be 1 page, double spaced.
PYC Applications Closed
Thank you to those who have applied to the PYC Conference at UC Davis. We have a total of nine students who will go to represent Edison, LMASP and Stockton with fee waivers. Congratulations to Jeffrey, Cathy, Synequeen, Ron, Ogee, Ella Mae, Jenine, Hannah and Narvy! Please stay tuned for details prior to leaving for the conference.
