Annette Onate

Youth Advocate for environmental justice

Annette Onate (They/Them) was born and raised in Stockton, who lived most of their life in South Stockton. Annette’s interest in environmental justice grew when taking Ethnic Studies their junior year, where they learn about redlining and the connection it has to today's environment. They have been part of many Stockton organizations such as NOPAL Stockton, Changiest, and Tola Academy, while being an ambassador for District 5 Newly elected State Senator Susan Talamantes Eggman campaign. With the experience they have gained with other organizations, Annette will be able to contribute to Little Manila Youth Advocate to educate and bring more awareness. After Annette graduates from Edison High School in May, Annette will be majoring in Ethnic Studies with a possible double major in another branch to receive their master's in Education to become an educator. Annette plans to continue working with Stockton organizations while they attend university as a first-generation to not lose their connection with Stockton. Aside from being involved, Annette likes to watch stand-up comedy, discover new music, read, and write poems.
