Jasleen Sihota

Youth Advocate for environmental justice

BioJasleen Sihota is a first-generation Indian-American who was born and raised in Stockton, but she has also lived in India for 4 years. She prefers to use the pronouns (she/her) and is interested in exploring the environmental injustices within Stockton, and how the community can be affected by them.

She joined the Youth Advocate program because she wants to engage with the community of South Stockton and inform them about the climate issues we are facing. She has previous experience in community outreach, and she is hoping to use some of her skills to take Little Manila above and beyond expectations.

Aside from environmental justice, Jasleen hopes to pursue a career in the medical field, and wants to become a surgeon in particular. She believes that environmental justice plays a huge role in our health, and contributes to disparities in health status across populations of different ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
