Karlaine Francisco

Youth Advocate for environmental justice

Karlaine Kahealani Sales Francisco (she/hers) is a first generation Pinay based in South Stockton and Lodi, CA! As an Ilocana and Kanaka daughter with her blood drawing back to sugar planters from Kaua’i, ketchup cannery workers from Stockton, and fishermen from Salinas; she is extremely proud of her lineage and hxstory.

She is a first-generation college student, and will be the second in her family to pursue higher education; where she will be studying Environmental Economics and Policy + Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley! (#gobears) Constantly exploring and always staying curious, Karlaine is continuously striving to further her work as an engineer and a businesswoman (in training!) in which her dream one day is to work in structural design or risk analysis, designing the next big thing in transportation innovation.

But most importantly, she is an advocate for her community in a wide range of initiatives from Environmental Health to Social Justice and Preservation of the Arts; as she hopes to build and uplift communities that are fueled off of love, respect, sustainability, and accountability.
